Fresh from the US: Stand-up Comic Cheyenne Shares Heart-warming, Hilarious and Surreal Life Story at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

When Cheyenne was born, his father's guru came to the hospital and said he was going to be a very big spiritual teacher. But his life took a different path, leading him through Buddhist cults, tech startups and several amusing encounters with p***stars. Cheyenne candidly opens up about his offbeat voyage through life, all in pursuit of the life his father envisioned for him.

With experience performing at The Comedy Store, The Improv, The Laugh Factory, Gotham Comedy Club (where he was on the same stage as Jerry Seinfeld), and the Sydney Fringe this is Cheyenne’s debut show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

"I've been wanting to tell this story for a long time, and I’m grateful to the Fringe for providing a place for emerging genres of stand-up like this.” said Cheyenne. “I'm excited to share it with the world.”

This new genre of stand-up delves into topics rarely explored on the comedy circuit; themes including consciousness and the great mystery life. Cheyenne’s observations of the human condition are at once insightful and comical, with one preview audience member commenting: "I watch a lot of comedy. But your show was one story that held my attention the entire time.". Whilst another said: "I've never seen anyone do comedy about these topics before."

Cheyenne’s unique perspective and life experiences make him a truly original voice. A gifted storyteller, his ability to connect with audiences is undeniable. 

"Cults, Startups and P***stars: How I (Almost) Won My Dad's Approval" runs from August 4-27 at ZOO Playground in Edinburgh.

About Cheyenne

Cheyenne is a comedian, entrepreneur and has an extensive Buddhist background. With 8 years’ stand-up experience, he has been seen on Showtime, at The Comedy Store, The Improv, The Laugh Factory, Gotham Comedy Club (where he was on the same stage as Jerry Seinfeld), the Sydney Fringe and numerous other venues.

Cheyenne's love of comedy began at a young age. At school, Cheyenne was obsessed with stand-up comedy. He ran the school's comedy club in his senior year, and even did regular solo shows at the school chapel, reciting the likes of Eddie Murphy's Raw routine.

He took two years off after high school to pursue stand-up full-time, and even played on the same stage as Sam Kinison in Malibu at the age of 18. He was eventually spotted by a talent agent, but decided to go to college instead.

After college, Cheyenne spent over 20 years launching and running various startup internet companies before deciding to return to comedy in 2017.
